OVERVIEW

The International Diabetes Excellence Academy will feature keynote lectures and workshops developed by a team of expert medical educators from Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, India and the United Kingdom and will build upon the pedagogical skills of the participants. The program has been designed to provide a holistic approach on how to improve diabetes care in view of the available therapeutic modalities.


IDENTIFIED PRACTICE GAPS/EDUCATIONAL NEEDS

With diabetes on the rise and almost approaching the status of an epidemic, there is a need to address and improve the competencies of Health Care Professionals to manage diabetes and keep track of global best practice. In view of the fast pace of development in the field of diabetes (Medical education, Technology, New Drugs) and with the additional challenges in routine practices, learners and health care professionals have new needs and expectations. This Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activity will help in bridging the gap by providing the participants an opportunity to gain knowledge and learn skills that they can apply to their everyday practice and improve lives of people with diabetes.


TARGETED AUDIENCE

This exclusive two-day course is designed for physicians who focus on management of people with diabetes in their routine practice and are keen to enhance their proficiencies in the area of diabetes care.


OVERALL LEARNING OBJECTIVES

It is intended that this Continuing Professional Development activity will lead to improved patient care, including improvements in knowledge and competence. At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • • Recognize new ways of diagnosing diabetes
  • • Recognize new therapeutic approaches to personalise therapy
  • • Discuss the management of immediate and long-term complications of diabetes
